THIS SUNDAY - We are continuing our Advent series in the book of Isaiah, this week looking at chapter 7 and how Isaiah predicts the coming of Immanuel - God with us. We’ll be looking at the heart of God and how he loved us enough to send his one and only Son. Come join us in person at 10 a.m. or watch online at Church Online.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE - Just a reminder that we will only be having one service on Christmas Eve, the usual morning service at 10am. Please bring some Christmas baking to share!
DISCIPLESHIP - is a key component of following Jesus. We become mature believers only by living in relationship with others, and by being challenged in the teachings of Jesus through discipleship; some structures to help facilitate this process include being a part of a small group or attending Freedom Session. We encourage you to consider either option as you seek a deeper relationship with Christ.
DONATIONS 2023 REMINDER - Donations have to actually be received by the church by December 31st to be counted as a 2023 donation. It is not enough to simply put a cheque dated for December 31st in the mailbox or send an e-transfer before midnight on the 31st. Someone from CFBC has to actually receive them so Sunday morning service December 31st will be the last chance for 2023 donations.
NESS LAKE BIBLE CAMP ANNUAL POLAR BEAR DIP - The Ness Lake Bible Camp annual Polar Bear Dip is one way you can help send kids to camp and it's a refreshing and fun way to begin the New Year! Every child deserves to go to camp and we work hard to make camp accessible for all, but we need your help to make it happen! All money raised from this event will go to the camper sponsorship fund which makes camp possible for children whose families would otherwise not be able to afford to send them. The cost for 'dippers' is $25 which gets you a fun experience of a lifetime! Or you can fundraise with our pledge sheet. Our team cuts the hole through the ice for all our dippers, you get an exclusive t-shirt and we have loads of cheerleaders for you... not to mention hot chocolate, coffee and cinnamon buns to warm you up after! Spectators attend FREE. So bring out as many friends as you can to cheer you on and support you in helping send kids to camp. Awesome prizes are given for the 3 people who raise the most money and for the 3 best dressed costumes!! Did we mention the delicious hot chocolate, coffee and fresh cinnamon buns? We did?! Well, I guess it's worth repeating: hot chocolate, coffee and fresh cinnamon buns will be provided for dippers and spectators. This event takes place on January 1st! Get all the details, pledge sheets and Register Here.
EADIE MISSION UPDATE - Warm greetings from Papua during this Christmas season! Each morning, during a MAF leadership conference that Amy and I recently attended, we had the pleasure of being taught by a pastor from Vancouver, Washington. One of the passages that he spoke on was the story of the woman who was caught in the act of adultery (John 8:1-11). If you haven’t read it, I encourage you to check it out! The local teachers of the law are ready to publicly stone a woman to death and use the situation to potentially corner and discredit Jesus. Should they execute her? If Jesus answers “no”, this would break Mosaic Law. If he answered “yes”, then he would come across as harsh, cruel, and unsympathetic to the people around him. Continue Reading
